About
I have worked as a Deputy Sheriff, and as a Deputy District Attorney, and now as a criminal defense attorney. This give s me a unique perspective on cases and police reports, since I understand how officers view a case as well as how they write reports to cover up something, or when something you would expect to see, is missing. I approach each case as though I am representing a family member, and I try to see the case from my client’s perspective as compared to the police reports and then after reviewing my clients record, I will have discussions with the prosecutor and the court and see if we can reach a resolution that will be a fair resolution to the case, or if this case has sufficient. deficiencies, then I am happy to go to Trial on the case. I enjoy going to trial and forcing the prosecutor to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt, to a jury of 12 independent jurors. I have conducted over 100 Jury Trials, in my career, and I still feel that a jury trial is the best possible protection we have against a wrongful conviction,
Finally, as the owner of the firm, I really enjoy working with attorneys in the firm to ensure they have all the training that they need to fight for their clients, but also to learn from them and to exchange ideas and strategies as we discuss open cases in the firm. What’s My Process
A clear, step-by-step approach to handling your case with confidence.
Consultation
I want to hear their version of what happened leading up to being contacted by the police and ultimately being arrested. Want to hear it from their perspective and hear what the concerns are with the case.
Case Review
I want to know about them as a person, since they are not just this incident or arrest. Find out about the life they live and how the charges would impact their lives. Also want to iknow if there is anything that will mitigate the charges that we can present to the court and the prosecutor when discussing the case.
Strategy
Review the police reports and other evidence and see how they support or do not support the charges alleged against my client.
Resolution
Then have a discussion with the prosecutor and the Judge to see if we can reach a reasonable resolution given who my client is, the facts of the case, the challenges of the case from my perspective and from the prosecutor’s perspective, and if are unable to reach a reasonable resolution, when we can have trial on the matter.
